Professional Mentoring Skills Enhancing Diversity

Program Description

Professional Mentoring Skills Enhancing Diversity (PROMISED) is a leadership training program that also includes skills on career coaching. PROMISED is designed for mentors who are committed to mentoring people from diverse backgrounds (those who are underrepresented in the biomedical research workforce). The program begins with the career coaching training and continues with online modules.

Expected Commitment

In order for the PROMISED experience to be as rich and rewarding as possible for everyone involved, we would like you to commit fully to the program. Please complete the readings, videos, and challenges before joining your colleagues for a synchronous video conferencing session. We expect that you will need approximately 3 hours each week for the modules.

Certification

For each module you complete, you will earn a badge. By completing a total of six modules, you will earn a Certificate in Leadership from the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Clinical Research Education. You will also receive the title of NRMN Fellow. To get credit for a module, you must complete all the designated work, including videos, readings, activities, synchronous sessions, and challenge assignments. Because we know you have other professional commitments, you can miss a total of three synchronous meetings across the six modules and still earn the certificate.

CME/CEU Credits

We are offering CME (Continuing Medical Education) or CEU (Continuing Education Units) Credits for NRMN Fellows. To be eligible for the credits, you need to successfully complete a module, which will generate a badge. You need to get an 80% to successfully complete the module. We are offering CME or CEU credit for each badge you earn. Please contact Doris Rubio if you are interested.
